Stephen King released a sinister little story in this month's Playboy. Brad and Dave convened for an emergency podcast to get you knowing while the mags are still on the shelf.
As we wait for Dolores to finish hanging the wash, Brad and Dave return to the Night Shift and look into one of the (arguably) more familiar Stephen King Short Stories, The Ledge.
It's edge of your feet fun!
A wrong is committed upon a little girl and almost 30 years later a woman deals with it whilst handcuffed to a bed...25 years after that two grown men try to relate, for better or worse.
After yet another hiatus in the year 2016 (Thanks, Dave) the boys are back to discuss the first of 2 books dealing with the darkness that comes when the sun is obscured by the moon.
Brad and Dave reconcile their differences and bring this saga to a close.
Aliens are weird and Big Jim is still an asshole; the second half of the book is just as epic as the first.
After the softest of arguments, Brad auditions new co-hosts and looks to our first official guest, constant-listener and oft-mentioned fan-o-the-show, Bob.
They have, it could be argued (amongst those who know them), their best conversation to date...about a book Bob hasn't finished yet.
Dave's pretty upset.
Brad and Dave were worried they were taking too long to finish the mammoth Under the Dome so they got together to discuss the first half of the book. As the paperbacks are split in two they felt it appropriate.
But you can tell they're excited to reach the end!
With two major Stephen King works hitting the silver screen in the next year, Brad and Dave get together to talk about what they've heard, what they expect, and what they're worried about.
Plus, they list off their favourite (and least favourite) adaptations.
The boys are back with renewed vigour to discuss another story from Night Shift, Strawberry Spring.
Follow them on a trip to a quaint New England University where, for a week, the weather's fine and the murders are fresh.
Brad's looking for Pennywise.
Is it solo if there are two?
So the Trilogy comes to an end and what of Det.-Ret. Hodges and his band of misfit detectives? You'll either have to read it to know, or listen to this podcast that is rife with spoilers! (Though, I feel a lot of what we talk about may not make sense without context...)
Enjoy! and we'll see you on the next Stephen King Day!!!!!!! (if there is one.........)
Well, long story short, Justin's computer stopped working and when he got it going again he didn't want to edit this episode 'cause he felt we blamed everything on him and that just wasn't fair. So, I'm loading it myself. I, being David (Hi, guys!).
Anyways, I don't know how to edit these things so it's going up bare. And, it's been so long since we recorded, I barely remember what we talked about. There's some bad singing off the top I think you'll all enjoy.
As you may or may not of read on my twitter (@pavey_david) we let Justin go and are currently looking for a new intern to edit and post our inane ramblings...so, you know...if you know anyone...
Caught by surprise, with lowered expectations brought on by the film adaptation, the boys discuss one of the longer stories in Night Shift, Sometimes They Come Back.
They don't deviate much from the story but the boys are in the pocket on this one. Dave sounds like he's literally in a pocket as he finds the ideal place to record in his new apartment.....
Brad gets spacey.
To celebrate their one year anniversary, the boys look into a book that spans the length of one year, Cycle of the Werewolf. It's fitting that this short, little book (a novelette, perhaps) become their shortest episode.
Plus, they revisit their Top Ten Stephen King books to see what's changed!
Check it out and give the first episode a re-visit to see how far they may or may not have come.
The boys go back to the Night Shift!
They start the episode in a babbling confusion, but they bring it around and piece out a quirky little tale from the darkest nightmares of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
They should have played Primus' 'The Toys are Winding Down' instead of the weird tune Dave picked.
Once again, the boys couldn't fit their whole conversation into one episode. They're back (again) to wrap up 11.22.63, and the problems with Time Travel. They also delve into all the exciting news about the (potential) Dark Tower movie!
